Betty Mockel - Artist

Betty Mockel was born in Helena, Montana. She moved to Townsend in 1947 where she attended shcool and graduated from Broadwater County High School.  She married Kenneth Clark and raised 4 children while ranching on the Clark Ranch. Later they worked and lived in Helena for 20 years. They were married 38 years when Kenneth passed away. After marriage to Jack Mockel, Betty moved back to Townsend in 2003.

Betty is a mostly self-taught artist. She took a few painting lessons from Earl Wadley and Kay Lytle of Helena in the1960s. These peeked her interested in painting and she has painted since those early lesons. She loves all subjects and mediums; she has worked in watercolor, oils, acrylics and pencil.

Betty's work has been displayed at the State Bank of Townsend (now Opportunity Bank), the "Artisans on Broadway" art gallery in Townsend.

She is currently a featured artist at The Lodge of Townsend.
